Due North is super proud and excited to announce our membership with 1% For the Planet, the global movement inspiring businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions. As part of this initiative, we have pledge 1% of our revenue to this extraordinary cause that is close to our hearts.
Why?
We want to protect what we love. We want to ensure everything we set out to achieve has a genuine impact; not only in our desire to collaborate in growing your business but to positively impact the environment by supporting those that are working to solve our environmental challenges. And that benefits us all, in our work, in our lives and in our futures!
What is 1% for the planet?
It all started when two businessmen met and bonded over their shared love for the outdoors. Realising their responsibility to protect our planet, they decided to give 1% of their sales back to the environment—whether or not they were profitable.
In 2002, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, created ‘1% for the Planet’ and started a global movement from a simple thought – because companies profit from the resources they take from the earth, they should protect those resources.
Their mission is to bring dollars and doers together to accelerate smart environmental giving, their vision ‘All together for our planet’
To date, they have certified more than $225 million in support to approved environmental nonprofits and it’s only the beginning.

Why this is important?
It’s no secret that we are in a time where our planet needs more help than ever. However, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment. It takes leaders to come together and make a difference and Due North, both as a business and the individuals that make our team (your crew!), are committed to leading responsible business practices and making a difference.
